The early pioneers of rebirthing introduced water-based breathwork sessions. Many people ask how similar cold water rebirthing is to Wim Hof's work which combines ice with breathwork.
Whilst both use a circular breath technique, we are using it in different ways and with different intentions. In rebirth breath, we are interested to explore the emotional field, which can be rich with lessons, learnings and insights for us to grow from.
Working with cold water is all about facing the ways in which we resist or contract against life. This could be small ways in which we say no to life, or it could be every aspect of our lives.
When I first heard about cold water rebirthing years ago, I was freaking out! I did not want to do it. I don't like the cold, I'm skinny! What if I get hypothermia?!
I took all my fears to the water, and breathed with them, and began the gradual process of slow immersion, over 20, 30, 40 minutes. Time fell away. Only total embodied aliveness remained!
In my final moments as my head slid into the water, I was laughing out loud about how foolish all my fears had been - and how I had breathed my way through all of them! This was my initiation into the cold. It changed my relationship to cold in general. It also changed how I face challenges in my life.
Cold water breathwork helps you find your inner fire, to meet the challenges of the world around you. You feel powerful and cleansed by the end of it, and fully ALIVE!
Cold Water Rebirthing in Bali
We're now offering weekly group Cold Water sessions at Samyama Meditation Center, in Ubud, Bali.
This is for a maximum of 5 people at a time. You can also book a one-to-one session, where we can focus even more fully on what you are working on, and I support you at every single step (and breath) along the way.
The 5 person experience takes place over 4 hours. It is deep, powerful and life-changing. We work with the water for over an hour, and we have preparation time before, and integration time afterwards.
If you are new to rebirthing breathwork, I recommend coming for a regular class first, on dry land! That way you can see how you find it, before moving deeper into the water sessions. These sessions are for those that are ready to go deep, face fears, and breathe beyond them.
